Jackson Pollock is regarded as one of the most creative, abstract and original artist to be born in the United States. Mr. Pollock was born January 28, 1912 and passed away August 11, 1956 in what is assumed to be a DUI accident. He was born in Wyoming but raised in California and Arizona. As a young boy he was always interested in Native American Culture. Jackson was a man who prefered to live in solitude and recluse by himself rather than enjoying the company of others. In 1930 Jackson travelled with his brother Charlie to New York where he began working on his art work.
He married Lee Krasner another American artist. Their life spent together only included them, the newlyweds never had children. In their home is where he began to practice his unique technique of "drip painting." He was nicknamed Jack the Dripper. Pollock was a very unconvetional artist. With his technique and methods which were never seen before, but he also didnt name his paintings, he numbered them. His painting No. 5 was the most expesnive painting ever sold for 140 million dollars. He then died August 11 1956 widowing his life, who managed their estate and turned it into a studio.
