Charles Darwin the Evolutionest
Charles Robert Darwin was a scientist who stated that all organisms evolved from what we know as common ancestors. He is the first person to share the idea of "Natural Selection" something we know as when an organism is given certain traits to help it survive.
Darwin was born in England on February 12, 1809. He was from a wealthy family. His father was a doctor and his mother a financier. While growing up Darwin attended Medical College to try and follow his fathers career but could't find the will to pay attention to the lectures and ended up dropping it. He began studying the life and anatomy of Marine invertabrates. But again Darwin wasn't much into studying for school he preferred to be out and about. His father was dissapointed in Darwin.
Darwin ended up going on a five year voyage on a ship known as the Beagle where he worked on as a geologist taking notes on land and other things. He noticed how on islands there were similar animals but they had key differences. He later found out, though they appeared to look similar they were of different species which sparked his interest. Which began his idea of "one species changing into another."
He began to write his book on his theory of natural selection. Once the book was published many people said that his information had no evidence or was already known. Darwin began looking for some type of evidence to support his theory. His book "The Origin of Species" was actually very popular and sold many copies.
Charles Darwin was married to his cousin Emma Wedgewood. They had all together ten children. Two were lost in the pregnancy. And another at age ten. When his daughter Annie died, Darwin lost sight in God and stopped attending Church. Over the course of the time from him writting his book to it being published Darwin became very ill. A main reason Darwin became ill was because he lost his brother which devestated him. He died on April 19, 1882 from a series of heart attacks.
